In the May 10 Plastics in Politics Live, Steve Toloken talks about the potential fallout from California Attorney General Rob Bonta's surprise investigation into the plastics industry. Toloken noted that some of the issues aren’t new, in fact they’ve been debated for years – did the industry deceive the public about recycling, does plastics manufacturing create environmental justice issues, does the resin ID code amount to a deceptive practice, and the viability of chemical recycling. The difference now is that Bonta has investigative tools, including subpoenas, at his disposal.
