US-based plastic packaging and recycling solutions company Plastipak has launched a new online global community Recycling Counts as part of its sustainability commitment.

The online portal will be used to educate, promote and support recycling.

Recycling Counts educates the readers about sustainability and recycling and helps them to understand their role in bottle-to-bottle recycling.

Plastipak representative said: ?We are dedicated to sharing with others how recycling can help preserve the environment for generations to come and strive to demonstrate how Recycling Counts can truly make a difference both in our homes and across our communities.?

As part of its commitment to sustainable packaging, the company has introduced various recycling initiatives to convert used plastics into resin for new bottles.

Following its bottle-to-bottle approach to recycling, the company worked in collaboration with its recycling affiliate Clean Tech to prevent millions of pounds of material from entering landfills annually.

Plastipak noted that its four global recycling centres are equipped with modern recycling technologies. They recycle high-density polyethene (HDPE) and polyethene?terephthalate (PET) plastics that are used in new bottle manufacturing.

The company currently operates more than 40 production facilities in the US, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia with over 6,000 employees working across its operations.

In June, Plastipak Italia Preforme entered into an exclusive partnership with Garbo to develop industrial-scale PET chemical recycling and use it in preform and bottle applications. Free WhitepaperSix essential ways to improve your pharmaceutical quality system
