The biotechnology industry is one of the industries that has shown great growth over the last few years. Proof of this is that it covers more and more sectors, including one with enormous growth potential: the plastics industry. In this sense, the biotechnology industry proposes and presents innovative solutions that range from the recovery of both organic and synthetic waste to transforming them into new sustainable raw materials, promoting the implementation of the circular economy in its strictest sense.

This seminar will address the challenges and opportunities posed by biotechnology in the plastics sector, in terms of the management and possible treatment of waste from the sector, and the trends and initiatives that are being implemented at the international level to achieve the objectives set at European level.
